Leroy Chism

JACKSON [MS] - LEROY CHISM, age 77, born February 17, 1937, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12 from 11:00-1:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm in the chapel. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.


Mr. Leroy Chism worked in sales for Senco Products and Wooley Brothers. He was also the owner of Mr. Muffler in New Albany and Delta Muffler in Pearl. He also served in the National Guard. Leroy enjoyed coaching and watching his children and grandchildren play sports as well as spending time with them. After retiring, he enjoyed the outdoors and working in his yard. He enjoyed the Bus Ministry of Parkway Baptist Church while a member there. He was a current member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.


Mr. Chism is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia ‘Pat’ Chism of Madison; his children, Lesa (Andy) Larkins of Madison, Vanessa (Butch) Hollingsworth of Florence, Tracy (Nancy) Chism of New Albany, Dawn (Chris) Jayroe of Madison; his seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his two sisters Sue (Joe) Little of Knoxville, TN and Betty (William) Floyd of Dallas, TX; his nine brothers, J. W. Chism of New Jersey, Dewey (Keitha) Chism of Union City, TN, J. C. (Teresa) Chism of Pontotoc, Kenneth (Carol) Chism of Booneville, Jessie (Rosemary) Chism of Baldwyn, David “Bo” (Jan) Chism of Monroe, LA, Jackie (Judy) Chism of Marietta, Mitch (Tammy) Chism of Baldwyn and Bill (Brenda) Chism of Guntown; mother-in-law, Hazel Thornton of Blue Springs; brothers-in-law Gerald Thornton of Blue Springs and Lee (Brenda) Thornton of Bartlett, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Dewdrop Chism, his father-in-law, Raymond Thornton, his brother, Charles Chism and two nephews, Adam and Ricky Chism.
